Blog Entry #2 - RE: Career Mashing!

As I was looking through the Career Mash website, I found a lot of cool careers that are related to technology.  But the one career that caught my eye was a 3D artist.  3D artists mash up art with digital graphics like illustrator technologies.  They can add specialist skills like entertainment, business, finance, automotive, aviation, healthcare, scientific research of education.  3D artists are usually for people that have creative artistic talent with unlimited imagination, can visualize lifelike animation from storylines, blend artistry with technical skills in complex animation software, and can work well in collaborative teams.  To pursue a 3D artist career, look for university fine arts and community college that provide 3D animation. Admission often requires a personal portfolio showcasing the artistic talent.  The portfolio should include drawing, composition, character development, narrative story design, storyboarding, modelling and production.  Most 3D artists get jobs in the advertising and graphic design agencies, web design and video graphic departments.

Blog Entry #1 - RE: Texting in Social Situations

1. What are your thoughts on texting in social situations?

As a teenager, I frequently text people. Whether it's to start talking to someone I like, when I'm bored or when I need help with something.  And sometimes I use texting to save myself from any awkward situation.  I have to admit, I do text people in social situations sometimes.  But I do think texting in social situations is unnecessary and should be avoided because you get distracted and not pay attention to your surroundings.

2. Do you find it rude if you're talking to somebody and they proceed to text continuously on their cell phone?

Yes, I do find it rude when I am conversing with someone and they still proceed to text someone.  Because they're pretty much having another conversation with someone else.  They're probably not paying attention to half of the things I'm saying. Most likely, they would pay more attention to the person they're texting.

3. If you had to come up with a list of five etiquette rules for texting, what would they be?

#1 - Do not text anyone if you're having a conversation with
someone.  The person will think that you're not listening
to what he/she is saying, and they might be offended.

#2 - Turn your phone off when you are in important social
events or situations, so you wouldn't be tempted to text
        back or text anyone.

#3 - DO NOT start texting someone when you are in situations
where you have to interact or socialize.  Texting will
just make you seem arrogant and not willing to talk to
        people.

#4 - Never reply with a "K". Chances are, most people do not
like receiving a "K". It sounds rude and it seems like
you don't care with what the person just texted.

#5 - Instead of texting, try calling the person instead.
Hearing the person's voice is much better.
